Fault diagnosis of ball screw pairs
1、 Types of faults in ball screw pairs
1. Wear and tear fault
a. Ball wear
The surface wear of the ball leads to an increase in the clearance between the screw pair, which affects the transmission accuracy and stiffness.
b. Nut wear
The internal thread wear of the nut reduces the contact surface with the ball, affecting transmission efficiency and lifespan.
c. Wear and tear on the raceway
The wear caused by the rolling of the ball in the screw raceway results in grooves appearing on the surface of the screw.
2. Deformable fault
a. Screw bending
Due to improper installation, uneven stress, or temperature changes, the lead screw may bend and deform.
b. Nut deformation
The nut is subjected to excessive pressure or impact, causing internal thread deformation and affecting the fit with the ball.
c. Ball flattening
Ball bearings undergo flattening deformation when subjected to excessive pressure, which affects their rolling performance and lifespan.
